What to expect

A considered process from the first conversation.

  • Separate live and control rooms with extensive acoustic treatment
  • Producer-led sessions for solo artists, bands and ensembles
  • Analogue Neve, Chandler, DDA and Ward-Beck recording paths
  • Private studio visits available before a project is booked

Record the music—not just the individual parts.

A convincing recording begins before the red light comes on. Steve works with the artist on arrangement, instrumentation, tempo, feel and the practical shape of the session so that studio time is spent capturing performances rather than solving avoidable problems.

Sessions can be as focused as a single vocal or instrument, or can cover a complete single, EP or album. Instruments may be tracked separately for maximum control or recorded together when interaction and live energy matter more.

A flexible room for drums, voices and real instruments.

The studio is equipped for full drum kits, electric and acoustic guitars, bass, piano, keyboards, banjo, mandolin, mandocello, violin, cello, accordion, solo vocals and small vocal groups. Microphone choices include AEA, Chandler, Neumann, AKG, Sennheiser, Shure and Electro-Voice.

The live room provides space and natural character, while the more tightly controlled room is useful when separation and precision are the priority. The recording approach is chosen around the instrument and the sound the song needs.

Secluded, comfortable and close to the North Devon coast.

Pound House Productions sits just outside West Down, around 15 minutes from Woolacombe, Croyde, Saunton and Putsborough and roughly 20 minutes from Exmoor. There are no neighbours in sight, giving artists the privacy and headspace to concentrate.

Nearby pubs, B&Bs and holiday lets make multi-day sessions practical. The exact studio address is kept private and shared directly with confirmed visitors.

Questions

Before you enquire.

Can I visit before booking?

Yes. A private studio visit can be arranged so you can meet Steve, see the rooms and discuss the music before making a commitment.

Do you record complete bands?

Yes. Depending on the arrangement and the sound required, the group can play together, build the recording in stages, or use a combination of both approaches.

Can Steve also produce and mix the project?

Yes. Recording, arrangement, additional instrumentation, production and mixing can all be handled as one joined-up process.
