Preserve the personality while making the record translate.
A strong mix should make the production feel inevitable without sanding away the choices that make it individual. Steve focuses on balance, movement, tone, depth and emotional impact, while keeping the performance at the centre of the record.
The process combines precise digital control with an analogue signal path built around Neve summing and carefully selected outboard equipment. The goal is not analogue processing for its own sake, but the weight, cohesion and dimension it can bring when the music calls for it.
A straightforward remote workflow.
You will receive clear instructions for exporting and labelling the multitracks so every file starts at the same point and arrives at its original sample rate. Reference mixes, production notes and a small number of relevant commercial references help establish the direction.
Steve then prepares the session, resolves technical issues, builds the mix and sends a listening version for feedback. Communication remains directly with Steve throughout, so revisions stay focused on the agreed artistic direction.
Suitable for singles, EPs and complete albums.
A single song can be mixed as a standalone release, while multi-song projects benefit from a shared sonic perspective. For EPs and albums, tones, vocal presentation, ambience and overall level relationships can be developed so the songs feel connected without becoming identical.
If a recording needs production work, replacement live drums or additional instrumentation before mixing, those elements can also be discussed rather than forcing an unfinished arrangement into the mix stage.
